Powerboat P1 is the fastest growing marine motorsport series in the world and has a long term commitment to growing and developing the sport of powerboating at all levels.

The season opener for the UKOPRA four-round National Championship started in spectacular style in Poole Bay, Dorset this past weekend. A 37-strong field of entries included the two Powerboat P1 boats of Norvall and Hiscox in their P1 Panther D-08 (still in SuperStock Specification) and Foster and Morris in their P1 Renegade rib D28. Powered by the same Evinrude G1 250 ho, this put them head-to-head in Class 3 D.
D-08 had by far the better start in the Sunday morning sunshine as the flag was dropped at 11:30, with Norvall and Hiscox taking an early lead in their K7 Construction sponsored P1 Panther.
With Foster at the wheel and Morris navigating the rib, D-28 had to battle its way through 71.4 nautical miles of multi-lap racing from the start line at Bournemouth pier to Hengisbury Head and on to Poole Bay and managed to put their P1 Renegade rib 1st in class for the weekend.
Despite a navigational error in the early stages, Norvill and Hiscox recovered to finish second in the class.
The next round in Guernsey over the weekend of July 16-18 will see the P1 racers renew their rivalry.
